These are very trying times, the coronavirus has been said to be the greatest enemy of man, due to the pandemic a lot of people has started finding ways to coup with the new way of life. Yes, I said “new way of life”, since the rise of the pandemic our lives in this great country has change we’ve adopted new way the likes of social distancing, sanitizing regularly (regular washing of hands) just mentioning the obvious. Let’s not forget the need to continue productivity, some Nigerians have embraced the idea of working from even before the pandemic. More have joined the ranks of those working from home since the pandemic.
Changing from an office surrounded by co-workers to working at home isolated or with family around might be cool for some but for others, they seem to struggle to achieve productivity. We have compiled some tips that will help improve productivity working at home.
Finding A Perfect Work Space
“My imagination functions much better when I don’t have to speak to people.”
quote by Patricia Highsmith.
Choosing an area at home for work can be tricky sometimes.
Making that Work Zone one needs to consider mostly two factors;
quietness and comfortability.
Make a Desk Space
The first thing you need when creating a workspace is a desk and a chair to go with it. A room is Preferable but in the absence, a desk space with a place to store your work tools and files is the next best thing.
Set rule with people around
Set rules for people in your home or who share your space for when you work. If you have children that come back from school when you are still working, they need clear rules on what to do and not to do while you are working.
Establishing a Consistent Schedule
“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”
quote by Michael Altshuler.
Deciding to start work at a certain time is one thing; Creating a routine that guides you to it is another.
Companies that sent their employees home to work require them to keep to the same schedule or create a flexible one. Most people left in charge of their schedule and the self-employed tend to struggle with productivity than people expected to follow a set schedule.
Creating a schedule and sticking to it is one of the easiest ways to maximize productivity in a home-office setup. Once your is schedule set, make sure to set boundaries and limits. That means resisting the temptation of checking messages on social media, emails, and watching movies.
